You can easily make this banana bread vegan or gluten free—check the recipe notes for details. Grease a loaf pan and set aside. Fold through the chocolate chips, if using them.
Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into a large bowl, adding any husks left in the sieve from the wholemeal flour.
Stir in the bananas, flour mixture and chocolate chips (or any other add ins of choice.
Add to banana mixture and stir to combine. Mix the flours, bicarb, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Add the brown sugar and mix well.
